6 Months Old
I can't believe that it's been 6 months already. He is getting big and learning to do so much and what he can't do he really wants to. He's 15 lbs. 5 oz and 26 inches. That puts him at the 14th percentile for weight and height he's in the 30s'. Roy love talking and singing along whenever someone else is. He sits and plays with his toys and is starting to let Mom and Grandma get stuff done. Papa and Grandpa are highlights of his day. He loves when they come home and he has his men to play with. My little buddy really wants to start crawling and I'm sure that when he does, he'll make his way over to something and pull himself up. He thinks he's ready for big boy stuff. I want him to stay little and as immobile as I can, because I'm positive that once he's on the move, there will be no stopping him.
Man's FOOD
I in no way as his mother condone such behavior. But he's so stinkin' cute, I couldn't say no.

Two little Giraffes and Trick or Treating
Thanks Aunt Brandi for our super cute Halloween costume. As luck would have it Aunt Darla bought Roy's cousin Autumn the exact same costume. So our little-uns got to be twinners. Autumn is five weeks younger than Roy, so her sitting-up abilities are not as up to snuff as ours. They were both so cute, as you can see. We were invited to eat dinner with some friends, then we walked back to our house to get some pictures of our zoo animals and for Grandma Terry to get to see the babies together. After that we walked to Uncle CT and Aunt Laurie's house. After that we parted ways and Scott, Roy and I trucked on to the Beatleys' for some trick-or-treating. (for anyone who's confused, Roy is the giraffe on the left)
It's the GREAT Pumpkin Roy Brownlow!!!
We bought Roy a giant pumpkin at Safeway to go along with the smallish medium ones that Grandpa grew in his garden. This thing was big, Roy could have easily fit inside it and I could hardly lift it even after the thing was hollowed out. Scott cut off the top for Roy so he could get the guts out. After Roy got his hands gooey and tried to eat it, I put the kibosh on that idea and told Scott Roy could be an observer, but not a participant. I'm sure that'll come up at his future therapy sessions, but I couldn't think about my sweet baby getting all gross and pumkin gutted. Plus you know that Mom is the one who would have to scrub it off after all was said and done with the guts having dried out on him. Not what I call a happy ending to our family night. So Roy posed for a few shots, then watched his Papa make him one happy jack-o-latern.

5 months old!!!
"Hey, look, my bear has shoes." I love watching all of his new discoveries.
Hi everyone, it's me, Roy. I told mom I would take care of this post since I'm getting so big and can do so much now. Food tasted real good. I ate all my vegetables so I get tasty fruits. I sit up but I have to stare at the ground. When I look up I fall over. I like my seat with toys, Mom calls it an exersaucer, I call it fun. (But sometimes everyone wants me to play in it, and I don't want to. So I cry.) Grandma Terry is taking good care of me. I sleep real in her arms everyday. Sometimes for a long time, sometimes only for a minute. I'm getting bigger and stronger everyday. Soon I'll beat Papa up and get Grandpa with spiders. BYE EVERYONE! LOVE YOU!

FOOD!!!!
Our doctor told us that we could go ahead and get started on food. So Roy and I had an excursion to Wal-Mart to pick up some rice cereal. I'm not sure if picked the most opportune time to feed: He was starving. But at first he seemed intrigued by the spoonful of slop I shoved in his mouth.
However, it did not take long at all for Roy to realize that this in no way compares to milk. For the most I think it had to do with milk keeps coming, this goes slower and he has to be more patient.
Eventually we both kind of got the hang of it. He calmed down a little, and I shoved it in as fast as I could. It only took one night for me to learn that we need to eat the good old fashioned way before we start in on this new aged spoon stuff. But he is slowly getting the hang of it. I've been playing with the consistancy. Not too sure which way to go, thick and he doesn't open his mouth wide enough and it all ends up on his upper lip, runny and it all dribbles down his chin. Either way, he does not like getting his face scrubbed when we're done and parts are dried on. (though the dried on parts are usually his forehead or hair after he tries shoving it into his mouth with his hands and then rubs them all over his face)
A Great Big 4 Month Old
I can't believe my sweet baby is already 4 months old. He's a whopping 13 lbs 10 oz and 24 1/4". His shots hardly fazed him. He cried at the pokes, but calmed down relatively fast and only had a small drop of blood. (the first time he got shots he cried and cried and we had blood on his onesie and my pants) Mom says he's finally getting a schedule, at least in the morning. Roy wakes up with his papa's and is all smiles for us. He loves his papa so much that he turns away from breakfast to smile at him. He stays up for about an hour and is back asleep. No matter how long he sleeps in the morning, 10:00 is naptime. And of course no matter if he just had a bottle or not, when I get home for lunch he needs to nurse. Mom calls it his comfort nursing, it's just part of the routine. The afternoons are still a mystery; they change day to day. But no matter how rotten and crabby he is some days. I still love my little buddy. But who can resiste that happy naked baby. I love that his bear is finally leaning against him, I seem to recall Roy using the bear as his prop for his 1 month pictures.

Rolling Over ... Take 1
Roy learned a new trick for my birthday. He can now roll over from his back to his belly.
Unfortunately I didnt' realize you can't rotate video to be the right direction. The next one will be up right.

Just a little Talking
This is just a little dose. Normally he talks a lot more, but like Maeli, he doesn't want to perform for the camera.
Game Camera
Scott may be mad that I'm posting this without him, but he hogs the computer when he's home and I don't get to blog much. The game camera is something Scott has always wanted and after much going back and forth about wanting it versus needing it, he won and got his game camera. I admit I've been skeptical about it. A $100 thing strapped to a tree in the middle of the woods that will take pictures using a motion sensor is not my idea of a need, nor a wise investment. I keep thinking that it's going to get stolen and it's not going to work out the way Scott wants it to. But after a week on a tree in the woods, up above where we were married his camera caught something, black bears.
What a BIG Boy!!!
Roy is almost 4 months old, and just starting to outgrow his 0-3 month pajamas. He has room in the body to put on weight, but his legs and arms are just too long. I don't have issues with my baby getting bigger but I keep stuffing him into these pajamas as soon as they're clean because they are mine and Scott's favorite. Our little monkey is too darn cute and looks so sweet in his pj's. We went to Wal-Mart to see if they had anymore pairs like them for future growing, but ours is out. If any favorite aunties happen to come across a pair and want to jump up in status with Roy send 'em our way. And if not, I'll just have to have another baby! For curiousities sake I tried a 3-6 month onesie on him the other day. It is most definitely hanging down between his knees.

Movies
I've been working on getting a movie of Roy talking to post, but the little stinker will be talking so cute and as soon as I get my camera he stops and just watches me. I just need to be sneaky like Beth is with her kids and get him while he's focused.
3 months old!!!
"Hey, who's this?" Roy finally realized that he's been sitting next to his bear for his monthly picture.
"Got my bear and I got my fist."
Roy is getting so big. He's a lot more vocal, he'll sit and just talk and talk and talk. His 0-3 month clothes are finally filled out and looking good, some of his pajamas are even getting too small. At his 2 month appt he was 10 lbs 13 oz and 23 inches. It's the 13th and 27th percentiles, so still a little guy, but he's the handsomest little guy I know. I'm so amazed by how much he changes every day. He has really started to hang onto things. His favorites right now are his burp rags and his blue elephant in the carseat. And his smile lights up the room. I come home from work and just "Hi Buddy" and he gives me his biggest grin. I love it!!!

Back to Work
I had the "pleasure" of going back to work this past week. It's depressing to leave Roy, but he's in good hands. Scott and my mom are each watching him. They're doing a great job, even though Scott just puts Roy in his crib at nap time and lets him cry himself to sleep. It is what our doctor told us to do and Roy doesn't cry for too long before he settles down, but it makes me feel like I'm missing his milestones. Not sure that it's such a great milestone the first time they cry themselves to sleep, but it's a small glimpse at what's to come. Plus I seem to make it home just in time to enjoy his fussy time before bed. The work part isn't so bad. I get to see Roy on my lunch break and feed him and I'm pumping so the day really gets broken up and moves along quickly. Except that last half hour, it kills. I'm enjoying catching up with my coworkers and the gossip that I missed. Nonetheless, I would rather be home holding Roy and watching Baby Einstein.

WILD COW MILKING
Scott's cousin Luke had asked him if he wanted to be part of his wild cow milking team in the rodeo this year. I'm not sure if all rodeos include this event, but ours does and local businesses sponsor teams. Scott's team consisted of himself, Luke and Dr. Fowler the large animal vet.
Our rodeo has two nights, and they were in each. The first night, their team came in third and won $30 each. Luke was on the head of the beast and Scott was holding her tail while Dr. Fowler did the milking. From the pictures you can see that it did not work out so well for Luke. So for the Saturday night rodeo Luke told Scott he would be on head. However they decided that both of them would hold the head. With both boys manhandling the cow and Dr. Fowler's quick milking skills they finished in about 8 seconds for first place. Their pot was much bigger and they walked away with $120 each.
It was exciting and fast and I think for 8 seconds of work and $120 bucks maybe we should join the rodeo circuit and and I can be a professional athletes wife.

Pullman
This is my sister's cute house. Beth and Jeremy invited Scott, Roy and me there so spend the fourth of July. Of course they had alterior motives; they wanted to use Scott as slave labor and have him put a roof on their carport.
Jeremy helped a little, just kidding, they both did lots of work.
Since we had the boy cousins together, Beth and I used the opportunity to give them a bath together. They played the usual boy game and kicked each other in their little packages. Probably why they were both crying by the time they got out.
Some of Beth and Jeremy's friedns invited us over to their condo to swim and eat pizza. Tucker was a good boy and slept in his carseat so his parents could swim, Roy and I sat out and watched everyone else, though I didn't mind in the least. It was shaded at the pool and Roy was good and just watched his Papa swim.
And of course since it was the 4th of July we did lots and lots of fireworks. We went to the friends parents' house that we had met swimming. Between everyones purchases it was quite the show. Especially since we were in Washington and didn't have to abide by the stupid Oregon laws of nothing over 8 feet.
It was a really fun weekend for both of us. Scott worked really hard, but enjoyed getting to work with wood connecting the carport roof to their house. I played with my sister and got to eat lots of good food. Beth marinated the best steaks ever, too bad she can't remember what type they were. Our plan was to come home Sunday, but Scott wasn't going to leave until the roof was done. They finished Monday in the early evening. That was lucky for me, because Sheila and her girls had just gotten there for their visit and I was able to get to play Phase 10 with her and Beth while the girls played. However the game took us hours between pausing to start dinner and take care of crying babies. A great little holiday weekend!
